Weekend Getaways

Do it with friends for even more fun!

For groups of (about) eight or more, six new weekend tours have been added to our traditional day tour favorites that are: Agra, Amish, Hy-Vee, Murder and Lynching and Witching, Quilt Shop Hops, and Red Buds. Our newest weekend tours include:

GIRLFRIEND GETAWAY

includes accommodations in a themed suite at Country Cabins, breakfast, a historical society village tour, candy making demo, lunch at an authentic tea room, shopping at the Frontier Trading Post and town square and an Amish Country Store. After dinner at the historic Charitone Hotel, you will end the evening with a movie at Vision II Theater. The weekend ends with a delicious Sunday buffet at Honey Creek Resort where extra amenities are an added attraction.

ENGAGE IN HISTORY

includes accommodation at the quaint Dual Gables. You will spend your days visiting as many of Lucas County’s four famous museums as you like. Each are different and offer nostalgia, education, exploration of yesteryear, and more. For example, Chariton’s museum includes the restored 1908 A.J. Stephens house, John L. Lewis exhibit, Otterbein Church, Puckerbrush School, pioneer log cabin, authentic pioneer barn, Swanson technical gallery and a blacksmith shop. You might even get a taste of roasting peanuts. Pioneer cemeteries are also included in this new tour.

FAMILY FUN

includes movies, bicycle riding, picnic lunch, mini golf, swimming, fishing, and other outdoor recreational fun.

BARGAIN HUNTING

takes you to a wide variety of shops in several nearby communities that feature an eclectic array of new and used treasures!

NATURE

is a weekend tour that explores all the great outdoor getaways that have for years drawn people over and over again to Red Haw State Park, Stephens State Forest, Pin Oak Lodge, and more. Activity options include fishing, hiking, bird watching, mushroom hunting (in season), bicycling, movies, and more.

RIDE ON THE WILD SIDE

includes accommodation at the themed Country Cabins, meals, destination rides, and tours of C&C Cycle, Southern Iowa’s largest Harley Davidson site, and Fat Baggers, who design, build, and paint awesome artwork on custom motorcycles for kings!
