Always the first weekend in June
Imagine if you will campers with revamped vintage trailers, colorful tents, gypsy wagons, stylish pillows, tiki lights, beds framed with lace curtains, flowers and a few potted plants. Diners may be attired in anything from cowboy hats to mumus, flannel pajamas and petticoats and everything in between. Or even an evening gown. Join the fun in your own glamour camper (glampers) or just come and enjoy the many activities planned for Chariton’s International Glamour Camping weekend – always the first weekend in June.
For a glimpse of what the weekend’s activities look like, check out what took place for 2014. The 2014 activities begin on Friday evening with a campside supper, followed by tales told around the campfire by a professional storyteller. Saturday’s activities began early for the annual county wide garage sales, the Farmers Market, shopping on the Square (four re-sale shops for treasure hunting!) and a community band concert. It was poodle skirts and 50’s attire for Saturday nights dance at the Soda Pop Saloon. Sunday began with a campside breakfast and worship service, leaving the rest of the day available for fishing and/or hiking at adjoining Red Haw State Park, local mini golf or the public swimming pool, and shopping.
