BRING YOUR KIDS AND YOUR CAMERAS!
Over a thousand people are drawn to Lucas County every fall to see the entries in the annual Hay Bale Art contest. This “to do” is a “must bring your camera” event! Tour maps are available for the locations of the dozens exhibits of just how innovative and creative are the people who live here. In the past, contestants have created from hay bales famous characters (a character from Duck Dynasty and even some Minions from the movie “Despicable Me”), pets, vehicles, tractors, angels, a covered wagon, a doughnut and cup of coffee, a monster truck, spider, and other designs made out of both small and large bales of hay. The purpose behind the contest is for you to have a fun and entertaining way to celebrate the importance of farm land in the area and appreciate our agricultural heritage. While traveling the roadways to find the “art”, enjoy the fall colors and other scenery of the area. At day’s end, be sure to vote for your favorite piece of art. Click here for more details.
